DELTA SIGMA PI

The Iota Kappa Chapter at James Madison University
About Us
Delta Sigma Pi is a professional fraternity organized to foster the study of business in universities; to encourage scholarship, social activity and the association of students for their mutual advancement by research and practice; to promote closer affiliation between the commercial world and students of commerce, and to further a higher standard of commercial ethics and culture and the civic and commercial welfare of the community.
Our Purpose
In becoming a brother of Delta Sigma Pi, one excels at and has greater knowledge of professionalism, brotherhood, and leadership. We offer our brothers opportunities to improve these attributes. A more descriptive explanation is listed below.

Professionalism

Brotherhood
Each semester, our chapter holds at least four professional activites for brothers. Some recent events that we have held are: Etiquette dinners, Resume reviews, Mock interviews, and Professional/Alumni speakers.
As you can see, we value the success of our brothers and work hard to assist them in their professional careers. Our chapter strives to be set apart from the others through our consistent and ever apparent professionalism.
Our chapter alone has initiated 1,280 brothers into Delta Sigma Pi here at JMU. As a whole, our fraternity has over 240,000 brothers worldwide. This supplies us with essential professional connections throughout our careers. We value these connections and we keep in contact with our alumni continuously.
Brotherhood is a lifelong bond formed throughout your time here at JMU. Brothers of Delta Sigma Pi are united and ready to assist any brother in need. We help each other succeed academically, socially, and professionally. Each member is equally important to the brotherhood as whole.

Leadership
Delta Sigma Pi offers numerous opportunities for brothers to improve their leadership skills. Running for office in our executive committee is one of these opportunities. Brothers are able to run for positions of their choice. If selected, they lead and represent the chapter as whole.
Our Central Office also holds a Leadership Conference for brothers each year. Leadership and Excellence Academies for Deltasigs (LEAD) focus on educational development of all members of the Fraternity. Many brothers attend this event each year.
Our Philanthropy
Delta Sigma Pi's philanthropy is directly linked to the American Cancer Society. We also support several other organizations such as The St. Baldrick's Foundation and The Boys & Girls Club.

The Michael Matthew Brown Memorial See-Saw-A-Thon

The Michael Mathew Brown Memorial See-Saw-A-Thon is one of the ways as a chapter we raise money and awareness to support the American Cancer Society. For 24 hours a day, straight for one week, brothers and pledges will sit a top a giant wooden see-saw placed in the center of campus. Students can walk by, make donations, ask questions, and see our brotherhood in action during this week that we celebrate one of our brothers.
Along with this event, the fraternity has established a scholarship is Michael's name. Each spring, a student in the business school receives this scholarship. Michael was a great asset to our fraternity and to JMU as a whole. Establishing this scholarship was our way of allowing his name to continue on while helping others to achieve their dreams.
Delta Sigma Pi - Making an Impact: In Every Way We Can
Other events that we have held in the past are: soup kitchen bingo nights, canned food drive competitions, and volunteered at local elementary schools for field day.
On campus we have held 3-on-3 basketball tournaments, helped with Freshman move-in, and organized blood drives.
